August 26, 2025 | Nairobi, Kenya – Lendsqr, the global Lending-as-a-Service (LaaS) company committed to expanding access to credit across emerging markets, has announced the launch of Lendsqr for Non-Profit in Kenya: a completely free version of its digital lending platform designed specifically for non-profit organizations and development finance institutions (DFIs).
The initiative is open to qualified non-profits across the country, many of which provide access to credit at subsidized rates but struggle to afford the technology needed to operate efficiently or scale. With this move, Lendsqr is removing one of the biggest barriers for mission-driven organizations in Kenya: the high cost of modern lending infrastructure.
“At Lendsqr, we’ve always believed that technology should be an enabler, not a bottleneck,” said Adedeji Olowe, CEO of Lendsqr. “If you’re a non-profit or a DFI offering loans to smallholder farmers in Eldoret or youth groups in Nairobi, you shouldn’t have to spend millions building or buying a lending platform. We’re offering ours at no cost, because we’ve benefited from generosity in our journey and now it’s our turn to pay it forward.”
In its early days, Lendsqr itself received crucial support from major technology partners like Microsoft, Google, and AWS, who waived infrastructure costs and provided resources that helped the company grow. Public institutions such as the Federal Government of Nigeria and innovation partners like OnePipe also extended backing.
“We know firsthand the impact that kind of support can have,” Olowe added. “Now we want to offer the same lifeline to non-profits working at the frontlines of financial inclusion in Kenya.”
The free version of Lendsqr includes the full set of tools required to run a lending program: loan application portals, digital and offline customer onboarding, repayment tracking, and automated credit decisioning. It also supports flexible lending models such as guarantor-backed loans, equity contributions, and manual loan approvals—ensuring that organizations can tailor the platform to their mission and beneficiaries.
The program is already live, with FATE Foundation, founded by Fola Adeola, co-founder of GTBank, becoming its first beneficiary. FATE has supported entrepreneurs and SMEs in Nigeria since 2000 through mentoring, business education, and access to affordable capital. Lendsqr now powers its lending arm, underscoring the platform’s readiness for non-profit organizations in Kenya and beyond.
Non-profits and DFIs in Kenya interested in joining the program can apply through an open review process. Successful applicants will be onboarded at no cost and gain full access to the Lendsqr technology stack to power their lending programs.
